SEC investigates Hindenburg claims

US-based sportsbook operator DraftKings is under investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The federal body has filed two class action lawsuits against DraftKings over allegations raised by short-sellers Hindenburg Research in relation to the company’s merger with SBTech in 2020.

Potential IRC struggling to generate interest

While the perception of Chicago’s first downtown integrated-resort casino (IRC) might be hugely attractive to Illinois gamblers, the reality of owning and operating one may be a turnoff for potential investors. Evidence of the Illinois city’s struggle to drum up interest in the casino project came on August 6, when Mayor Lori Lightfoot extended a deadline for interested bidders to get their proposals in.

A final federal approval

Florida’s Seminole Tribe is one step closer to introducing sports betting. Federal officials have now approved a compact deal secured by Governor Ron DeSantis, paving the way for sports betting at seven casinos across the state.
